ACCOUNT MANAGER FLAVORS / AROMA CHEMICALS

Home based

East Coast Region

Our client is an established Flavor and Specialty Chemicals Manufacturer/Distributor based in the greater NY/NJ area. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an Account Manager with FLAVOR or SPECIALITY CHEMICALS Sales experience to maintain and grow business relationships with customers and expand their business on the East Coast Region

This Account Manager position will take over some established accounts in the region but will be responsible for developing new business and increasing sales in the region. They sell to Food, Beverage, Flavor and Fragrance Manufacturers

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes products and services primarily through direct sales to existing and prospective accounts to meet or exceed sales budget
  • Development of sales territory in line with the agreed annual sales budget and forecasting in order to ensure the budget is achieved
  • Generate new business and solicit new customers and product opportunities with new clients
  • Continually monitor and appraise emerging products or trends in order to identify and report on business opportunities in targeted markets
  • To work closely with customers, to be supportive and helpful whilst retaining confidentially and implementing agreed product strategies
  • Liaising with colleagues internally to keep updated with developments regarding open orders, pending samples against orders, quotations, shipment follow up, etc.
  • Provide visit reports with detailed information of items discussed, competitive information and industry developments
  • Represent company at industry related trade shows and functions
  • Identify opportunities with customers where Company can offer technology solutions that add real value.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of competitors, their products and key market drivers.
  • Ensure agreed commercial sales targets for the division are met

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MUST have at least a BS degree (Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, Science or similar)
  • MUST be currently living in on the East Coast (Northeast region is preferred), be located near a major airport and be willing to travel frequently.
  • MUST have at least 5 years of commercial, B to B Flavor, Aroma Chemicals or Specialty Chemical sales experience
  • Must have 3-5 years sales experience selling similar specialty ingredients, flavors or aroma chemicals to the Food, Beverage and Flavor industries.
  • Candidate must have experience calling on R&D and have a sound understanding of ingredient applications and the sales cycle
  • Must have a strong commercial understanding and excellent negotiating skills
  • Must have a proven track record leading and implementing change
  • Must be self-motivated, work well independently and be organized.
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be an effective networker with the ability to operate with autonomywithin a matrix structure in a multicultural environment
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Must be able to travel within the region frequently and have the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
